Brother Anthony (Tony) Crowe was
promoted to Sergeant effective May 23rd 2005.
Tony emigrated from
his native Dublin, Ireland to Summit in 1981, he worked in the
automobile trade and in the evenings volunteered with Summit
Volunteer First Aid Squad where he became an EMT and met his
wife Maureen.
Tony joined Summit Police
department in June 1986 as its first
Civilian dispatcher.
He became a sworn Police
Officer in October 1987 and attended Union County Police Academy
in 1988.
Tony has successfully
completed numerous police related courses including Northwestern
University Auto Accident investigation, APCO 911 course, PR 24
Instructor course, Firearms Instructor course, Field Training
Officer, Breathalyzer operator and the new Alcotest system.
He has served the Summit
Police Department as Firearms Instructor, Crime Prevention
Officer, Field Training Officer and PR 24 Instructor.
During his career with Summit
Police, Tony has received many awards including a Meritorious
Award, Exceptional Service Award, Two Unit Citations and
numerous recommendation from superior officers and members of
the public.
Tony was instrumental in
developing the Summit Police Web Site. He is a member of
Summit PBA local 55 and has served as its secretary. He
also served as a board member of the Summit P.A.L. He is a
Life member of Summit Volunteer First Aid Squad and a member of
Summit Elks.
